Jack the Ripper

For over 136 years, the name ‘Jack the Ripper’ has dominated the world of true crime, but the killer’s identity has been buried beneath layers of myth, speculation and sensationalism across hundreds of books, documentaries, films, and even a musical. Even the now infamous name was created by a contemporary journalist, and yet it continues to define the case. What if the greatest obstacle to solving the murders is the legend itself?

In Jack the Ripper: Inside the Mind of a Killer, the focus shifts away from the endless parade of suspects and conspiracy theories to something far more revealing: the psychology of the murderer. Stripping away the gothic fiction of a cloaked figure in the fog with doctor’s bag in hand, this book returns to the contemporary evidence to build a clearer, more realistic picture of the man behind the crimes.

By rejecting decades of assumption, misinterpretation and media invention, it offers a fresh perspective on one of history’s most infamous cases. What kind of individual could commit such atrocities? What drove him? And why did he stop?
