Apie knygą
Delve into the profound and pivotal exploration of "Rethinking Rufus" by Thomas A. Foster, a groundbreaking study published in 2019. This essential work spans 192 pages and is the first comprehensive examination of sexual violence against enslaved men in the United States. Foster meticulously analyzes existing historical sources to uncover the disturbing realities of sexual assault, demonstrating that such violence was not only prevalent but also occurred in various forms, including physical assault and sexual coercion. By highlighting these often-overlooked narratives, "Rethinking Rufus" challenges readers to confront the complexities of plantation life and the brutal dynamics of slavery. Thomas A. Foster invites both scholars and general readers alike to engage with an important aspect of history that reshapes our understanding of the experiences of male rape victims and the pervasive impact of slaveholders' actions. This thought-provoking text is a must-read for anyone interested in history, social justice, and the legacies of slavery.
